Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB) has embarked on a demolition exercise targeting illegal structures and shanties in Onitsha, commercial city of the state.
Chairman of the Board, Barr Chike Maduekwe, who led the operation said the move was part of measures of improving environmental safety and security of residents of the area.
He warned against the potential risks posed by unauthorized constructions, including threats to community safety and security of the community.
He emphasized that the exercise would be total and continuous, insisting that the lives of people of the state could not be jeopardized, regardless of the status of the offenders.
He reiterated the importance of obtaining proper building permits, warning that any structures built without the necessary approvals would face demolition.
