Soludo’s Security Initiative Restoring Normalcy, Peace in Nnewi – Traders Union Leader

President of Nnewi Automobile Manufacturers and Importers Association, Nnewi, Anamabra State, Hon Austin -Manuel Jidiofor has commended Governor Charles Soludo’s efforts to restore peace and tranquility in the State through a new security initiative.

Hon Jideofor, the Supervisor for Special Duties and Chairman of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in Nnewi North Local Government Area while addressing some journalists at his residence in Okpuno-Egbu, Umudim Nnewi revealed that the newly launched security outfit called “Agunaechemba” has swung into to sanitize the State.

He said that the new security outfit transformed from Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG), which Chairman is the outgoing President General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Hon. Maduka Atueyi in Nnewi would not spare bad elements terrorizing the people.

Hon Jideofor noted that the State government was serious to eradicate criminals in Anambra.

He encouraged youths to engage themselves in meaningful businesses and shun criminal activities that would eventually land them into trouble.

“According to the book of Deuteronomy, if anyone found guilty of kidnapping for ransom, he will be put to death. No reason should anyone kidnap for ransom, “he quoted.

He disclosed that the police on a daily basis within his area have been arresting criminals.

Jidiofor advised landlords to be mindful of the type of tenants they put in their apartments to avoid facing the music.

He said that data collection of individual residents of any building in all communities including Nnewi as directed by the Governor is beginning soonest to know occupants of buildings and what they do for a living.

IGR Chairman revealed that some buildings where criminals used as their hideouts have been marked out for demolition even as the demolition has already started.

On revenue collection, Jidiofor said he has introduced a digital revenue collection system, adding that he would not approve any revenue drive until he has been convinced of a better way it would be done.

Speaking on the forthcoming Nzuko-Ora Nnewi (Town Union) election, Jidiofor categorically explained that the two contestants to the office of the President General of the union were sound.

He, however, added that the people of Nnewi needed someone who was conversant with the running of the Town Union.

“We have an active Executive Chairman, we need an active PG too so that when the policies of Nnewi North Local Government Area come, it will be dropped on the table of the PG of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, who will now talk to the people of Nnewi at the grassroots in the language they will understand.

“We don’t need a partisan person, who will not understand the ideology of the Local Government Chairman.We don’t want someone who will sabotage us by changing gear, “he disclosed.

He further said no Town Union exists without the approval of the State Government, which has the power to put a caretaker committee if not satisfied with the outcome of the election.

Jidiofor added that Hon Jude Osumuo has been in the system for years as a staunch member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

According to him, Osumuo has occupied so many positions which he said in all had recorded enormous achievements that made him to be qualified for the job.
