Anambra Govt Demolishes Residential Buildings Used by Kidnappers in Nnewi

More than four residential houses used as hide-outs by kidnappers at Umu-Umejiaku Nnewi, and Umuogbo Obiofia Nnewi-Ichi, all in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State have been demolished by state government.

The demolition exercise, which witnessed clampdown on shrines, mini-cells, bushes, and other items used by the kidnappers were carried out under the government’s Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiative.

Speaking during the exercise, Governor Chukwuma Soludo restated his administration’s zero tolerance for any form of crime and criminality targeted at restoring sanity in the state and ensure adequate security of life and property.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, warned kidnappers and other criminals to leave the state or face the wrath of the government through the Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiative.

He urged residents to always report any suspicious activities around them to the appropriate authorities or risk being arrested and punished accordingly if the government discovered the illegalities on its own.

Neighbours and uncle of the prime suspect identified as Chinemerem Oforma denied knowledge of the notorious activities of the suspected kidnapper.

The deputy governor was accompanied by the Majority Leader, Anambra State House of Assembly Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Mayor of Nnewi North, Mr Echezona Anazodo, among others.
