The leadership of Anam People’s Assembly (APA), has dismissed as ‘baseless’ and ‘malicious’ claims made by one Mr. Francis Okeke who claimed to represent Anamites in Disapora on purported misappropriation of funds for arms purchase.
APA, in a statement dated February 3, 2025 and signed by its National Chairman, Chief Alex Okonkwo, dismissed the report being circulated on the social media as childish propaganda designed to tarnish the reputation of the traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam and truncate the ongoing efforts towards peaceful resolution of conflict over fish ponds at Omagu Umuoji farm settlement.
“The claims of fund mismanagement for weapon purchases and allegations against respected leaders, including Igwe Obalim Ekwealor and Chief Victor Mmorba, are absurd and unfounded.
“These fabrications are a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of our leaders and incite unrest.
Okonkwo Urges Ndị Anam, Omambala and Anambra residents to disregard the report as both the group and the person pupprted to be its leader are non-existent and alien to Anam People’s Assembly.
“We wish to categorically state that there is no such collective body as “Anamites in Diaspora (AID).” While many Anam sons and daughters reside abroad, they are not organized under any such entity.
The APA chief insists that Anam community is a peace-loving people, and that there was not waging war or violent conflict with Aguleri.
“Any suggestion to the contrary is the handiwork of troublemakers”, he stressed.
He dismissed the so-called protection of “warriors” and incitement to defraud the government and lawful authorities as criminal suggestions rejected by Anam community.
He urges Anam citizens at home and in the diaspora, to remain united, vigilant, and peaceful.
“This publication is the handiwork of mischief-makers who seek to destabilize the peace and unity of Anam. Let us disregard this false publication and continue to foster progress and development in our community.

The APA leader also called for discrete investigation into the origin of such spurious documents put into media to cause malicious damage on the reputation of Anam Community as well as incite war between Anam and Aguleri.
“We call on the authorities to investigate the origin of this fake document and bring the perpetrators to justice.
