Jubilation as Anglican Archbishop, His Driver Regain Freedom a Month After Abduction

Retired Archbishop of the Niger Province, Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Okpala has been released after one month in captivity.

The archbishop was freed alongside his driver.

The Prelate was allegedly kidnapped while traveling to Umuchu, a community in Anambra State, for a burial ceremony.

His abduction sparked widespread concern and prayers among members of the Anglican Communion and beyond.

Announcing his release in a brief but heartfelt Facebook post early Thursday morning, Archbishop Okpala simply stating: “Praise the Lord!”

While details surrounding his release remained unclear at time of filling this report, the post quickly generated hundreds of reactions, with many expressing gratitude to God for his safe return, particularly on Anglican Communion social media platforms.
