Woman Arrested over Alleged Trafficking of 13 Children in Nnewi

A middle-aged woman has been arrested for allegedly trafficking thirteen kids in Otolo Nnewi in Anambra State.

The suspect, Angela Okechukwu from Umuzumbala, Umuzu Otolo Nnewi was nabbed during a raid by Ministry of Women and Social Welfare in collaboration with the Ocha Brigade headed by Mr Celestine Anere

The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.

Our correspondent gathered that the children were found malnourished and have been denied education, while report indicated that the trafficker adopted and sold children to people from different parts of the country.

Reacting, Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said her collaborators were also arrested.

He frowned at the poor health condition the children, between two and twelve years were subjected to.

He assured that government would continue to crack down on all sorts of illegality, warning all criminal minded individuals to relocate from the state or face the full wrath of the law.

Some residents of the area, Ikechukwu Nnabuike and Ifechukwu Okoro who recalled several futile interventions made against the suspect, appreciated government for the rapid intervention to end the unlawful act.
