Anambra born business tycoon and philanthropist, Dr. Joseph Onuorah has appealed to Ndigbo not to allow reports of insecurity in the South East to prevent them from returning home Enmass for Yuletide celebration.

Dr. Onuorah, also know as “Deme Demee Na Orumba” told newsmen that Ndigbo should not allow the economic and security situations in the region to make them loose the opportunity of the mass return season which helps to sustain cultural ties and preservation of family bonds as well as societal values in various communities.

The Ndiowu born business man also urged government at all levels, especially the southeast Governors to redouble efforts in relaunching the economic viability of the region, and end end the pockets of insecurities in the zone for the overall wellbeing and development of the zone.

According to him criminal elements in the region would be emboldened to cause more havoc if Ndigbo decided to stay away from the problems that beset the region, which he said are equally found everywhere around the Sahara region and that Ndigbo will require locally crafted solutions to take back their cities, towns and villages.

He maintained that sufficient attention should also be paid to structural investments and activities to harness youth talents and passion like sports, education, industry, crafts, skill centers, financial literacy among others.

Dr. Onuorah equally called on successful Igbo entrepreneurs around the world to also do more with capital returns to the southeast region to drive the needed economic buoyancy.

“Bringing investments home and attracting governments presence in various communities is a more sustainable wealth creation strategy which we must abide by at all times ” he said.

He also urged South East members of the National Assembly to cure themselves of what he termed “give away” malady and do more to attract federal government’s and state presence to their local communities.

Dr. Onuorah also took the initiative to invite the general public to experience the 2024 edition of Ndiowu Sports Fiesta starting from 23rd to 31st December 2024

According to him, the annual sports festival which he sponsored and organized by Ndiowu Town Union sports council headed by Engineer Chike Emenike and Coach Shalọm will witness its 6th edition this year.

The sports fiesta, he explained, was part of a broader strategy to tackle insecurity by providing a structured platform for youths to fully express their passion for sports, harness young talents and promoting peace and conviviality during the yuletide season among others.
