7 Bag First Class as Admiralty Varsity Holds 3rd Convocation

Seven students of the Admiralty University of Nigeria have graduated with First Class Honours during the institution’s 3rd convocation ceremony, tagged the “The Release of Luminary Leaders”.

The event which was held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba Multipurpose Hall had in attendance, top government officials, Officers of the Nigerian Navy, Royal Fathers from the Host Community, Heads of neighbouring Institutions, among other friends of the university.

Giving his address, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Dili Ofuokwu, noted that efforts are on top gears to commence the University’s Post graduate Studies which shall kick off with 7 programs for the award of PGD, M.Sc/MPhil and PhD in the 2025/2026 academic session. He also stated that the National Universities Commission (NUC), has visited the campus for resource inspection for the following programs; Nautical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Naval Architecture, Logistics and Supply Chain Management as well as Petroleum Engineering. According to him, the university awaits approval the programs in no distant time.

Ofuokwu, while thanking the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for enlisting the university into their system and the Delta State government for building a 48 rooms hostel, also called on other stakeholders to support and offer kind gestures to the university.

The Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyerhovwo Tonukari, congratulated the outgoing students for the achievement, which according to him was a remarkable one. He assured them that they have graduated from one of the most standard universities in Nigeria, where qualitative learning and research is given a priority.

Oborevwori lauded the Management Committee of the University for maintaining standards and ensuring excellence in teaching and administration. According to him, the university is in the good books of the state government for building capacity and remaining in the fore front of human development.

“it is easier to attain great heights, but it is difficult to remain there… the relationship between the university as the Delta State Government is divinely ordained as the government is keen on promoting every form of human development” the Governor said.

Also speaking, the overall best graduating student, Miss Onwuliri Somtochukwu Onumdinachi thanked all staff of the university, who according to her provided both academic and moral support for her stay on campus. She charged her fellow graduands to step out to the world fearlessly, not forgetting all that was learnt on campus.

Highpoints at the event were; presentation of academic distinction prizes, presentation of awards of honour, Military Parade among others.

Also in attendance were; Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba (Pro Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council); Professor Emeritus Abubakar Sambo, (Convocation Lecturer); Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, Principal Officers of the University, Deans and Directors, among other guests.
