The vice chancelorship crisis rocking the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, has taken a another dramatic twist as the embattled Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh insisted he remained at the helm of the institution’s top job.
He dismissed the viral report of his dismisall as media speculation and stressed that he was fast at work.
AnambraDaily reported that President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday announced the dissolution of UNIZIKโs Governing Council, which included the removal of Prof. Odoh and the universityโs Registrar, Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike.
However, on Arise Televisionโs Morning Show on Thursday, a defiant Prof. Odoh not only dismissed the report but expressed his intention to continue his duties.
He maintained he has not received any formal notification regarding his removal, insisting his appointment was lawful and followed due process.
He said, โI havenโt been communicated with. Thereโs no written communication from the NUC or the Ministry of Education. There has been no panel of inquiry or investigation. All I saw yesterday was information in the media saying Iโve been removed.
โI was not appointed through a press release. I was appointed by a constituted authority. I have not committed any crime,โ he said. โAfter this interview, Iโm heading to the office.โ
