Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has reassured that protection of lives and property of people of the state remained top in the agenda of his government.

The Governor gave the assurance during the 2024 Ember Months Campaign flag-off town hall meeting organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State Sector Command, in Awka.

The Governor, represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim commended the Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State Command for assisting his government to ensure that lives of citizens were protected on the roads.

He stressed the need for the citizenry to see safety on the roads as a collective responsibility and not that of the FRSC alone.

He warned drivers against reckless driving, emphasizing the irreplaceability of life.

Earlier, Sector Commander of the FRSC Anambra State Sector Command, Joyce Alexander reminded passengers of the need to caution drivers whenever they are driving recklessly on the road for their own safety.

Speaking on the theme of the campaign, “Speaking Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers”, Alexander reassured the commitment of the command towards maintaining safety across Anambra roads this yuletide.

She appreciated State government and stakeholders for their various synergy and support to the FRSC Anambra, and appealed for more of their support and partnership with the agency.

On their parts, Traditional Ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu represented by the Prime Minister of the town, Engineer Benjamin Okoye, and Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka rated FRSC State command high in performing its statutory role of safeguarding lives on the roads.

They promised to establish safety committee in their various communities, and to also step down the knowledge garnered to other monarchs and community heads in the state for improved safety cautiousness at the grassroots.
