A cleric, Clement Ugwu has challenged Christians to put their houses in order by living holy lives in accordance with God’s instructions.
Ugwu gave the admonition during the burial service of Madam Joy Eze, nee Amedu in Okka, Itchi in Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
He said the call has become necessary as nobody knows when his or her own night would come.
Speaking on the theme: โSadness and Joyโ, Pastor Ugwu who served as a missionary to Namibia on the platform of โTime No Longer Ministriesโ, stressed that people should live according to the dictates of God’s word.
He said, “As human, one is bound to be sad when any of his beloved dies, even after over 100 years on this planet earth because he will still feel the vacuum the absence has created.
“On the contrary there would be joy if that person died righteous. Christians should not mourn as people without hope when they lose their beloved ones since there is hope of meeting him/her on the resurrection morning.
“This call for people to live Holy as there may be no opportunity when their night comes especially these days when we cannot distinguish between Christian and non-Christian again because some people have one leg in the Church, the other in idolatory.”
In his brief remarks before the remains of Mrs Eze was committed to the mother earth at her family compound, Senior Pastor at the Grace of God Church Itchi, Rev. Chineliwu Kenneth, extolled the virtues of late Mrs Eze and her commitment to the things of God when she was alive.
He called on her children, grand children and great grand children to emulate their departed mother.
Late Mrs. Joy Eze was the mother of Alphonsus Nweze, Editor of Niger Times Newspapers, Onitsha, Anambra State and Correspondent of Apex News Exclusive, an online and monthly magazine publication
Present at the burial ceremony were Hon. Harrison Ogara, Member representing Igbo-Eze South State Constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, and his elder brother, Mr. Andrew Ogara, a development specialist, members of Nsukka Platform (NPF), Asaba, Delta State led by their Chairman, Dr. Leonard Abonyi,a consultant at Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where the first son of late Mrs. Joy Eze, Alphonsus Nweze lives.
Others include; Council member, Dennis Osadebe University, Asaba, Delta State , Prof. Pius Ike, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mathias Asogwa, business mogul, Mr. Emmanuel Agbo, popularly known as Manis, Chairman, Samsung Electronics, Asaba, immediate past Chairman of NPF, Dr. Ejike Obetta among others.
