Anambra Loses National Female Cricket Championship Opening Game

Anambra State female cricket team on Tuesday, October 22, their opening match against Lagos State female team by 69 runs.

Anambra team won the toss and opted to field first in the 20 overs game played at the Abuja Cricket Oval pitch.

The Lagos team openers, Kehinde Abdulkadri and Eboka Teniola proved to be a tough nut to crack as both players posted 70 runs partnership before Eboka departed in the 11th Over. Lagos team played a total of 118 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs.

In the second innings, Anambra State queens tried to chase the large runs posted by Lagos but fell short scoring 49 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wicket
Lagos won by 69 runs

In other games, Edo women defeated Kaduna by 61 runs, while Akwa Ibom beat Gombe by 10 wickets. Kogi also defeated Ekiti by 25 runs.

Tomorrow’s ( 23 rd October) fixtures, Anambra will lock horns against Akwa Ibom while Lagos will play against Gombe, also Edo plays Ekiti while Kaduna squares up against Kogi.

All the matches will take place at the two cricket oval at Package B Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
