Soludo Dares Njoku Faction, Swears-in Newly Elected Anambra Council Chairmen

Anambra Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Thursday inaugurated the 21 newly elected Local Government Chairmen in the state.

Soludo while swearing them in at the Executive Chambers of the Anambra State Government House in Awka charged them to ensure the development of their respective council areas.

He said: “I charge you to champion and deepen development at the grassroot level.

“I congratulate you on your election victories, and I emphasize to you all the need for collaboration between the state government and the local governments to ensure that the state continues to experience its current growth and progress trajectory.

“You must focus on providing basic amenities to the people and improving the lives of the citizens in your various constituencies.

“Of course, you know the importance of accountability and transparency in the handling of public resources. I advise you to avoid corrupt practices and ensure that public funds are used judiciously to benefit the people.”

During the brief ceremony, deputy chairmen of the 21 Local government areas were also inaugurated alongside their chairmen.
Governor Soludo performed the swearing in ceremony, amidst claims by the Edozie Njoku faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA that its sets of candidates were the validly produced party candidates for the election.

AnambraDaily gathered that both camps of APGA had been celebrating since the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC declared the ruling party the winner of all contested positions in the last Saturday’s controversial Council Polls.
APGA stormed to victory in the poll despite protests from some opposition parties in the state, who accused the ruling party of manipulating the electoral law to paved the way for a landslide victory.

While some parties headed to the court, others simply opted out, a development that paved the way for the ruling party to stroll to victory across the 21 local governments and electoral wards in the state.
