New Anambra Civil Service Commission Pledges Improved Workers Welfare, Output

The new leadership of Anambra State Civil Service Commission has pledged to work with ministries, departments and agencies towards improving welfare of workers and productivity in the state.

The pledge was made on Thursday by the chairman of the commission, Chief Anthony Uchechukwu Ezenwaka shortly after confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The new Civil Service Commission headed by Ezenwaka has as members, Barr. Chukwuma Iwunor, Mrs.Philomena Okoli, Mrs. Adaobi Udalor and Dr. Luke Chidiebele Ogbaka.

Earlier, the assembly had initiated the screening process for the Civil Service Commission nominees through a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofordeme, seconded by Hon Noble Igwe.

The Chairman of the Screening Committee, Rt. Hon. Pius Okoye while presenting the Committee’s report, stated that the nominees were found worthy.
Following the confirmation, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Somtochukwu Udeze advised the new members of the commission to ensure cordial relationships with the other parastatals, MDAs and other government agencies.

“I advice you, now that you have been confirmed as a body, to work in tandem with the State Assembly, MDAs and other government agencies. This is to ensure free flow of the Government Activities.

Shortly after their confirmation, the Chairman of the commission, Chief Ezenwaka, thanked the Speaker and the entire members of the State Assembly Awka, promising that the commission would not fail Anambra civil servants and the state government.

Meanwhile, Ezenwaka, a retired Permanent Secretary in the State civil service, later told AnambraDaily in an exclusive interview that the commission would prioritize workers welfare.

“I think what is needed mostly is improvement in workers’ welfare and addressing welfare issues such as promotions, conversions, transfers, advancement, disciplinary actions, retirement etc. In fact, we are used to all these things. And we will do our best in doing the job.”
