The Pallottine Fathers and Brothers of the Society of Catholic Apostolate are set to Partner the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in order to make youths in Nigeria develop sound minds as well as the body and use their hands for productive ventures.
Delegate’s Superior Nigeria, Rev. Father Cosmas Onwukwe disclosed this on the sideline of the inauguration ceremony of the Pallottine Mother House cum Youth Centre, at the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers, Nigeria Delegature, Back of the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/ Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.
Fr. Onwukwe said that the religious body is mindful of the fact that youths of any country, if properly guided, mentored and groomed are usually productive – engine house of its development.
He frowned at a situation where some youths would move about the streets searching for scarce white collar jobs when they should acquire skills and be useful to themselves and the society.
“Since the NYSC has similar objective of making its youths skilled and self-reliant, we will partner the scheme so that all youths in Nigeria will be made productive,” he added.
Responding, State Coordinator, NYSC, Anambra State, Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma assured the Scheme’s willingness to work with any development oriented organization.
Iruma, represented by the Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, Mr. Emeka Ugwu stated that as soon as processes of partnership are completed, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) would be signed.
“NYSC is always prepared to partner any organisation that is development oriented. Once the processes of partnership are completed, a memorandum of understanding will be signed,” she assured.
