TRADITIONAL Ruler of Ukwulu Ancient Kingdom in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa has prayed God to expose Hoodlums behind Insecurity in the state.
The monarch stated this during the commissioning of security watch-tower built by the town union of the community as part of activities to mark his 2024 new yam festival.
Igwe Uyanwa, a former Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council, Anambra Central, observed that majority of the people who were fomenting trouble in the state were not from Anambra state, pointing out that 80 percent of the miscreants arrested recently by the security agents in the state were from neighbouring states.
He said, “The security agencies in the state have intensified crime fighting, the new Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam and his team are working tirelessly to rid the state of all forms of miscreants and criminals so that the people will now sleep with their two eyes closed.
‘The Traditional Rulers of the various communities in the state are trying to join hands with government in the fight against insecurity. The monarch in various communities know the good and bad people resident in their areas”
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his team as well as the security agencies for their commitment to entrenching permanent security network in the state.
The royal father announced plans by the community to start what he described as “Operation know your tenants and neighbours” by people of the community, especially the landlords.
“If a landlord in the community claims that he did not know his tenant and such tenant eventually arrested for criminal activities,they will equally arrest the landlord for harbouring a criminal in the community,” he added.
Uyanwa restated his resolve to ensure that Ukwulu remains peaceful, stating that eighty percent of the kidnapping issues in the community making waves across the State and on the media were untrue, describing such allegations as some of the handwork of some people who want to sabotage the good works of the present government in the State.
While praying for peaceful coexistence in Ukwulu community, Anambra State and Nigeria in general,Igwe Uyanwa, advised Nigerians to exercise patience with the nation’s leaders, assuring that in no distant time the country would be better again.
President -General of Ukwulu Town Union,Chief Christopher Inyiofo,said that the built the security watch towers in the strategic places of the community to support Governor Soludo’s security project in the state and to beef up security of lives and property in the community.
One of the illustrious sons of the community and a one time Vice-Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwe Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Prof Fidelis Okafor, thanked God for keeping them alive to witness this year’s new yam festival of the community, stressing that the event is all about thanksgiving to God by the people for making their crops to grow, multiply and the opportunity offered them to reap from the fruits of the earth.
Also, a former President -General of the community,Chief Walter Okafor,noted that presently, Ukwulu community is secured and free from all forms of crimes and criminalites as there is nothing like kidnapping by the Fulani herdsmen in the area again.
The President -General of Building Material Market Ogidi,Chief Jude Nwankwo,said that they came to celebrate their landlord,having secured hectares of land in the area to build their housing estate, describing Igwe Uyanwa as a leader with fear of God whose land were abundantly lessed by God.
Delivery a homily during the interdeminotional service which preceded the new yam festival proper, held in the Igwe’s Palace,Reverend Father Patrick Bosah of Chukwuemeka Odumegwe Ojukwu University Igbariam Campus,advised the people to always adore God at all circumstances, pointing out that there is complete prayer in adoration and thanksgiving.
The event which featured cutting and eating of the roasted new yam by Igwe Uyanwa amidst the teeming crowd,paying of homage to him by people of the community,their friends and well wishes from far and near, was graced by the Chief Protocol Officer to Governor Soludo, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, Ndi Nze Oba Dunukofia, Ndichie and Oji- Ana Ukwulu,Ike Dunukofia and Chief Paul Chukwuma, among other very important dignitaries.
