Leave Your Host Communities Better Than You Met Them – NYSC Boss Tells Corps Members

ANAMBRA State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma has charged Corps Members to endeavour to show their employers that they were ready to work in the establishments they were posted through their utterances, countenance and reactions on the first day of interaction at the workplace.

Mrs Iruma stated this during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch B stream 2 orientation course for Corps Members deployed to Anambra State, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu,Awka South Local Government Area.

She stated that packaging oneself properly was essential particularly on the first meeting with the employers as the outcome of that interaction would determine the way they would be handled throughout the service year.

She encouraged them to cultivate good working relationship with workers at their Places of Primary Assignment pointing out that significant hours of each working day are spent at the workplace.

The Coordinator said that members of their host communities are friendly, accommodating and hospitable as exemplified by free vehicles provided by the council chairmen as well as many indigenous guests that trooped in the camp to honour the invitation.

She emphasised the need to leave their host communities better than they met them by identifying the felt needs of their host communities and taking steps to address them through either group or individual community development projects noting that such projects could attract rewards.

No fewer than 1628 Corps Members participated in the orientation course, while 17 of them received commendation letters for exceptional performance during the period under review.
