Labour party, Anambra East Local Government Area Chapter in Anambra State has dissociated itself from the list published by Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for the September 28 local government council election in the state.

The party in a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon Chinwuba Chidi and Secretary, Hon Aghadiuno Onyeka said the party never conducted any Primary to nominate anybody nor submitted anybody to the Commission. The group warned that anybody dealing with such individuals were doing so at their own risk and detriment.

The party called on ANSIEC to delist the name of Labour Party from the poll, saying failure to do so would compel it to take legal action against the Commission.

The statement reads in part: “The Labour Party wishes to disassociate itself from participating in this SEPTEMBER 28th 2024 Local Government election in Anambra State. The labour Party Anambra State through its rightful Leadership has issued a statement that we as a Party are not participating in the forthcoming Local Government election in Anambra State.

“The General public is by this notice informed that they should disregard the list published by Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) as those names attached to LABOUR PARTY in Anambra East Local Government Area does not emanate from us. We never conducted any Primary to nominate anybody nor submitted anybody to the Commission.

“Anybody dealing with those people are doing so at their own risk and detriment as the Labour Party Anambra East LGA will not be held liable for any happenstances.

“We are calling on ANSIEC to delist the name of Labour Party from The Poll, failure to do so, we will take a Legal Action against The Commission. By this action, ANSIEC has shown its desperation to rope Parties into the already compromised Polls. Those doing it are mischief makers who wants to dupe the innocent and law abiding citizen of Anambra East LGA and Anambra State.

“The labour party Anambra State is already in court challenging the processes of the said election and therefore they are not participating in the said election, to be fore-warned is to be fore-armed.”
