Many were feared killed on Wednesday at Oye Agu Market Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State following a fatal road accident in the area.
A speeding vehicle was said to have lost control and rammed into the market, crushing some of the traders to death.
Although details of the crash were still sketchy as at time of filing the report, but a viral video currently on social media showed the crashed Sienna vehicle and some of the traders crushed to death as a result of the crash.
Also shown in the video were some goods felled by the crashed vehicle, as well as some survivors of the crash, including a young man who was rescued from under the vehicle by some good-spirited individuals at the scene.
Some persons were said to still be trapped under the vehicle.
Meanwhile, President-General of Abagana community, Engr. Ben Okongwu who confirmed the incident in a telephone call, revealed that no fewer than three persons died in the crash, including an under-aged child, while some other persons sustained some degrees of injuries.
Okongwu who attributed the crash to loss of control, said it occured in the early hours of the day.
Spokesperson, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, RC Margaret Onabe said she was unaware of the incident, promising to make further inquiries.
