EYAF BOT Member, Tony Ugbagu Dies Aged 70

An elder statesman and member of Board of Trustee, BOT of the Elite Youths of Anam Foundation, EYAF, Tony Emeka Onyeaka Ugbagu, has died, aged 70 years.
Tony Ugbagu who hailed from Umuoji Village, Umuoba Anam reportedly died at a Specialist Hospital in Sokoto, Sokoto State on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. According to a brief statement issued by the Executive of EYAF, the remains of the BOT member was deposited at the University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto with details of his burial yet to be concluded.

“The Executive of Elite Youths of Anam Foundation, EYAF regrets to announce the passing of its pioneer BOT Member, TONY EMEKA ONYEAKA UGBAGU, aged 70 Years. Details of his burial arrangement will be made available by the family in due time”, the statement jointly signed by the President, Chris Anekwe, Secretary, JP Udoba and PRO, Olisemeka Obeche announced.

EYAF, in a glowing tribute, described Ugbagu as a luminary in the realm of journalism and politics, who left an indelible mark on the lives of many. The statements read in parts:
“His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy continues to inspire and motivate. As a veteran journalist, Tony’s passion for truth and justice shone brightly, illuminating the path for others to follow. His incisive reporting and thoughtful analysis helped shape public discourse and hold leaders accountable.

“As an aide to President Shehu Shagari, Tony’s dedication to public service and his commitment to the nation’s growth and development were evident. His contributions to policy formulation and implementation were significant, and his influence helped shape the country’s trajectory.

“As a member of the Board of Trustees of the EYAF, Tony’s wisdom, guidance, and support were invaluable. He was a true champion of youth empowerment and development, and his efforts helped unlock the potential of countless young people.
Tony’s passing is a loss, but his legacy is a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and service. May his memory continue to inspire us to strive for excellence, to seek truth, and to serve humanity with compassion and integrity. Rest in peace, Tony Ugbagu. Your impact will never be forgotten.
