Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered manhunt Operations on gunmen who attacked a Police team at about 9:20am today Friday 9th August 2024, at a checkpoint, Omata junction, Nnewi- Oba road.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, PPRO Anambra State Command, the Operation, led by Assistant Commissioner in charge of Nnewi Area Command is already working with the locals in the area to unmask and apprehend the attackers.
The statement disclosed that in the ensuing gun duel by the Police Operatives, one Police personnel was fatally hit by an explosive thrown at them by the gunmen and the other policeman that is seriously injuried is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Meanwhile police operatives have taken over the area for possible arrests of the culprits.
