Commissioner Inaugurates N12.7m Principals, Corpers Apartments Renovated by Foundation In Anambra Community

Anambra State has taken delivery of a N12.7million worth of principal’s house and corpers’ lodge renovated at Ezeike High School Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of the state.
The renovation of the project was funded by Chief Ignatius Aguowo in partnership with I.G.Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation.
The commissioning of the project which was conducted by Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh took place at the premises of Ezeike High School, Nibo.
The multimillion naira project comprised redesigning of interiors of the building resulting to four bedroom and three bedroom apartments, introduction of more modern facilities, renovation of four Boys quarters, installation of overhead tank with water system, re-roofing of the building, re-plumbing of the entire building among others.
In his remarks, Chief Aguowo who is an illustrious son of the community and alumnus of the school explained how he sought approval from the Commissioner for Education to renovate the building which was granted and today it has become 100% completed.
Chief Aguowo who has a burning passion for provision of access to quality education for the less privileged, said he loves what Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing in the education sector and he, himself has been contributing his quota in education for the past five years, saying he has over 400 students in Anambra State under his scholarship scheme.
He appreciated the Commissioner for always giving him attention whenever he approaches her officer and told her he is going to bring another application to also intervene at Nneoma Community Secondary School Nibo, assuring her of his continuous support to her ministry.
Professor Chuma-Udeh in her response, appreciated the benefactor and the town, describing Nibo as a progressive community that thinks about her children’s welfare and their tomorrow and called on every resident of the state to partner with the state government in developing the state.
She commended Chief Aguowo for speeding up the renovation of the project and revealed that she has sent 12 additional teachers to the school to beef up the staff strength even as she charged the principal to ensure that the building is always in good shape.
Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu disclosed that the laboratory equipment provided by government for schools in the state will only be given to those whose schools are walled and promised that the portion of Nibo community will be given to them since they have already walled the school.
The President-General of Nibo Union, Professor Tony Nwokoye explained that the Principal’s House and Corpers’Lodge have been dilapidated and abandoned for the past 25 years before Chief Aguowo stepped in to renovate it to the present state and appealed that the building will be put into good use.
The traditional Prime Minister, Chief Robins Ezeani, the Principal, Mrs Theresa Okafor and a Student, Chinemezu Umeh, thanked the benefactor for his outstanding contributions to the school and the government for its investment in the state education sector.
Professor Agary Nwokoye representing the alumni association of the school, the National President of Nibo Christian Brethren, Prof Gabriel Egwuonwu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Fidelia Agbaizu,
Dr Uche Okeke, Mrs Ann Okafor of the PPSSC were among dignitaries that witnessed the event.
Official commissioning and inspection of the project were the highpoint of the event.
