Rotary Targets N8.4m on Humanitarian Services in Awka

Awka Rotary Club International said it would spend the sum of N8,450,000 on humanitarian services during the 2024/25 rotary fiscal year.

The newly installed President, Rotarian Ali Alex Arinze, (a.k.a.Zonas) who disclosed this in his post installation speech explained that the sum would be divided among nine projects earmarked to better the lot of the people.

He described rotary club as an organization for men and women of integrity willing to give back to the society, adding that three Rotarians inducted at the event were duly qualified for the assignment.

“Nothing stops us from inducting 20 to 30 people if we want but we induct quality individuals who can uphold the vision and mission of Rotary. Rotary is not a market place.

“Similarly, the awardees were honored because of the good things they have been doing in their different communities. We want those who will support rotary projects, our hearts are open,” he stated.

Immediate past President, Rotarian Valentine Chidiebere Okaudu urged his successor to always see members as those working voluntarily without payment to better the condition of the society.

“You are working with those who are not under your payroll. Handle them with care especially now we are experiencing hardship.

“During my time as president I even cut the time we stay during meetings to cut expenses and save time for personal obligations,” he noted.
