Internet connectivity: Construction of 2,400km fibre optic for free wifi in Anambra – Soludo

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has announced construction of 2,400km of fibre optic for free wifi across the State for internet connection to address difficulties in connectivity anywhere in Anambra.

Soludo stated this at the permanent orientation camp, Mbaukwu/Umuawulu during the swearing in 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Course in Anambra.

The governor, represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Martin Agbili said the vision of his government was to make the state a liveable and prosperous homeland.

He said his administration has many youth enterprise development programmes, urging the corps members to take maximum advantage of the programmes to better their lives during the service year.

He said, “My administration has articulated a deep rooted policy towards the youths which corps members deployed to the state benefit.

“We have so many youth enterprise development programmes that you should take maximum advantage of them to better your lives during your service year.”

While congratulating the corps members for successful completion of their studies, the governor encouraged them to embrace buy-Nigeria campaign of his administration as a way to growing local enterprise and domestic economy.

“I charge you to key into the various empowerment programmes of his administration including the Solution Innovation District through which
about 20,000 youths had been empowered.

“Your welfare is central to my administration, so the payment of state allowance to corps members serving in government establishments shall continue.

“I want to emphasise that one of the policy thrust of my administration is the promotion and patronage of indigenous products, particularly ‘Made in Nigeria’ products.

“You will be exposed to various communities and sectors across Anambra, I implore you to join in actively seeking out and promoting local businesses and products,” he said.

Earlier, State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Ekene Iruma said 1526 corps members, including 615 males and 911 females were ready for swearing in for the three weeks Orientation Course in the state

She told the corps members to participate actively in all four cardinal programmes of the scheme which included orientation, primary assignment, community Development Services and passing out formalities.

She said the programme was a leadership training environment where discipline was important and that the young graduates could acquire multiple skills including financial illiteracy.

She said, “It is a period that prepares you for the task of the service year and beyond.

“The content of the course is packaged with activities that help to further develop the prospective corps member mentally, intellectually, psychologically, emotionally and social-culturally.

“I enjoin you to be active in all camp activities which are mainly carried out on platoon basis.

“As the State Coordinator, I assure you that your welfare is my utmost concern, not only during this camping period but equally during the remaining three cardinal programmes.”
