Unexpected drama played out inside the court room of Otuocha High Court-II on Thursday, June 13, 2024 when a 30-year-old Obinna Orezue, a fake lawyer was bursted and arrested.

Orezue, an indigene of Abba in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State had attended the court in legal regalia to represent a plaintiff in suit no. OT/120/2022.

However, things took a dramatic twist when told the court that the defendant has not filed defence nor anything in the said suit.

The presiding judge responded by asking if he knew what to do if the defendant refuses to file a process, and he said yes but could not tell the court what was to be done. Then the Judge asked another lawyer in court to help him, after the lawyer answered the question correctly, the imposter failed again when he was asked to repeat what the lawyer said.

The Judge further asked if motions are being accompanied by prayer. He replied no.

Things moved from bad to worse when the judge ordered him to tell the court the university he attended, and he saidKano, then quickly recanted and claimed UNIZIK, stressing that he graduated in year 2015, but later on, he said he attended University of Igbariam and that he was called to bar in 2019.

Sensing that he had dribbled himself into cul-de-sac, Orezue then told the court that he had financial challenges, ostensibly to invoke pity.

At that moment, the judge then asked him to name his project supervisor and his call to bar number. He was also ordered to mention the name of any law lecturer in the Universities he claimed to have attended.

He was also asked to mention the name of the Dean of faculty of law in those schools he alleged to have attended.
Again, the impostor was unable to answer the questions.

Meanwhile, further investigation revealed that the suspected fake lawyer did not submit credentials to his employer, M.T OLISE-EKE, a law firm based in Onitsha, before the incident.

AnambraDaily gathered that the judge equally ordered his employer to appear in court next Wednesday for further clarification and possible prosecution.
