The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate in tackling illegal migration, human trafficking, and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure in Anambra State.
According to SC Edwin Okadigbo, PRO of NSCDC Anambra State Command, the pact was made in when the State Commandant of NSCDC, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, received the new State Comptroller of NIS, Mr. GN Nzeribe at the NSCDC Command Headquarters Awka.
Comdt. Maku pledged the continued support of NSCDC to NIS in its efforts to combat irregular migration, human trafficking, and other transnational crimes.
He emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration while highlighting NSCDC’s achievements in protecting critical national assets, combating quackery in the private security industry, and fighting petroleum products adulteration and black market racketeering in Anambra State.
“The need for us to collaborate cannot be overemphasized, we are ready and willing to continue the existing relationship and share intelligence in achieving our individual mandates” he said.
Earlier in his remark, the State Comptroller, NIS , G.N. Nzeribe expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received and called for a stronger partnership between the two agencies, noting that their alignment with the Ministry of Interior necessitates a synergy to achieve their mandates effectively.
“My visit to your office today is to aquint myself with the protocol of obtaining briefs from those on ground and to strengthen the inter-agency synergy between us” he said.
NIS State Controller was accompanied by some senior officers of NIS Anambra State Command.
