Ifite-Awka Residents Raise Alarm over ‘Yahoo Boys’ Invasion, Abduction of 4 Persons

No fewer than four persons have been kidnapped around Oganiru Estate, a suburb of Ifite-Awka, AWKA South LGA of Anambra state, following the alleged invasion of alleged ’Yahoo Boys’ in the area.

The residential area, is opposite Esther Obiakor, close to Ifite village and shares boundary with Nnamdi Azikiwe University(UNIZIK)

According to a report by The Razor, no fewer than 13 ‘yahoo boy’ occupy one of the flats in the Oganiru estate, which has instilled fears in the residents.

It was further gathered that the Yahoo boys pulled down part of the fence where they sneak in and out of the estate without making use of the main gate.

According to sources in the estate, “what they do is to trail their target from the estate and kidnap the person outside to make it look like they’re not involved.

“As we speak, about four members of the estate had been kidnapped in recent time. We also, noticed that they don’t attend meetings in the estate”

The Razor, further gathered that most of the people that live in the Oganiru estate were medical doctors, lawyers, academics and Journalists.

Some of the residents who spoke with Our Reporter, said they were no longer comfortable in the area.

They said members of the estate had decided to involve security operatives in addition to the ones in place.

Also, part of the fence, allegedly, pulled down at the back of the estate by the Yahoo boys,were being repaired with immediate effect.
