Children’s Day: ACTDA Boss urges students to shun vices, focus on studies

Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) and Convener of Soludo Ambassadors Mr. Ossy Onuko has urged students to focus on their studies for their future and that of the state and country at large.

He urged youths in the state and beyond to shun anti-social behaviors such as drug abuse, cultism, and examination malpractice.

Onuko who gave the charge in a statement to commemorate the 2024 Children’s day celebration in the State, further advocated for education and healthy living among children, particularly those in the State.

He highlighted the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in providing conducive learning environment that have enhanced, depended and expanded the frontiers of knowledge.

He noted that Soludo has prioritized training teachers in modern teaching techniques, which was why Anambra was leading in various competition.

He further appealed to parents to continue their efforts in sending their wards to school, especially girls, stressing that educating girls reduces infant and maternal mortality and discourages early child marriages.

The ACTDA boss commended Wife of the Governor Mrs. Nonye Soludo for introducing healthy living initiatives in the state and bringing them to the grassroots, especially in schools.

He urged parents, guardians and children to embrace the healthy living campaign championed by Mrs. Soludo, adding that it was the best option to ensure health and longevity.

He also called on parents and guardians to adequately care for their children, recognizing them as future leaders.
