NAPTIP Urges Anambra School Staff, Parents To Watch Out for Child Traffickers Posing as Destiny Helpers

Staff and pupils of Central Primary School, Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State have been urged to be wary of the antics of human traffickers who parade themselves as destiny helpers to deceive unsuspecting victims.

Head of Public Enlightenment of NAPTIP, Anambra State Command, Victoria Anigbogu, gave the charge during a sensitization programme in the school, organized to educate the children on the dangers of human trafficking, the techniques employed human traffickers. and the importance of staying vigilant.

She stressed the importance of safety and the consequences of carelessness even as she explained different perceptions to sexual exploitation, the signs of sexual abuse, and how children can become victims .

“Children, always report any form of abuse to your parents, teachers, counselors, or any trusted adult. We at NAPTIP Anambra State Command are poised to protect and defend you and any other victim of human trafficking,” she added.

Another NAPTIP officer, Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwukaeme, emphasized the dangers of child abuse and trafficking, cautioning the children against following strangers or accepting items from them without parental consent.

“You must also be aware of your surroundings and speak out or seek help any time you notice anything unusual or suspicious,” he noted.

The interactive session afforded the children the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications while answers were duly provided by the NAPTIP personnel.

The officers also quizzed the pupils to reinforce their understanding of all the issues raised during the session.
