Anambra Government Sensitizes Youths on Army Recruitment Exercise

The Anambra government has embarked on sensitization of youths in the state for the recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Army.

Declaring the recruitment exercise open at Government House Conference Hall, Awka, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba said that the state government has already initiated a programs in order to create job opportunities for the state youth.

He said that the second phase of 1 Youth 2 Skill has been approved by Mr. Governor in order to develop the youth on vocational skills.

Commissioner Mba said that the governor’s people manifesto to create 130,000 jobs and 1000 youths millionaires annually is targeted to reduce the rate of unemployment, restiveness among the youths and high level of criminality in the State.

He commended the Nigerian Army for their support and effort in fighting insecurity in the State and Nigeria at large, welcoming the team from Nigerian Army to sensitize the youth.

Interacting with the participants, the Team Leader Army Headquarter on Sensitization for Recruitment Exercise, Brigadier General AOD Okoro expressed displeasure on Anambra youth not participation in current recruitment in Nigerian Army Force, saying that they allowed their quota to waste unnecessarily and demand for explanation from the state youth from the age of 18-22 years and youth with different skills.

He explained the need for the youth to participate in this current recruitment and described it as national cake, guiding the participants on how to apply online and give them the link, adding that armies are their brotherโ€™s keeper and no discrimination in Nigerian Army.

One of the participants from Awka South, Master Chukwuemeka Okoli said that he has passion to join the Nigerian Army but he has registered online twice and his name was short listed and explained the reason why some other youth were discouraged.

In his vote of thanks, the ASATU Youth President, Mr. Kenneth Okoli thanked the team for visiting and intimating the youth on recruitment that is on going and promised to pass the information to the grassroots.
