Igweship Election :Ifurunwa’s Oppositions Beaten Hands Down As Fresh Election Conducted.

Chief Timothy Ifurunwa, the Igwe elect of Ihite community, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State has beaten his oppositions hands down again as new election was conducted by the state government.

Chief Ifurunwa won with more votes than the earlier one conducted recently, as the people appeared in their large number to maintain their support for him.

The Igweship election which was done through option A4, was conducted at Orie market square by the Councilor representing Ihite community at Orumba South council Area,, Mr. Chimobi Ucheagu,.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the election, the Councilor said that it was necessary to show that the few people alleging foul play in the election that produced Chief Ifurunwa earlier, were mischievous in their claim.

An elder in the community, Chief Samuel Okafor; leader of ‘Odozi Obodo’ women group, Mrs Fidelia Chigbo, and Commander of Ihite Vigilante Group, Mr Tochukwu Obiekezie, stated that the community has remained peaceful and in joyous mood, since Chief Ifurunwa emerged victorious as the new traditional ruler-elect.

Other community members, including the Chairman of all village chairmen, Chief Lazarus Eze, Woman Leader of the community, Mrs Ndidiamaka Ugboaja, and Youth Leader, Mr Arinze Odoemena, called on the public to disregard alleged brewing crisis in Ihite over the election that produced Chief Ifurunwa, calling on the government to accord recognition to the people’s choice.

Responding, the igwe-elect Chief Samuel Ifurunwa who is also the chairman of Mgbuka Obosi Old Motor Spareparts market, Obosi, expressed satisfaction with the large turn up of the people to show solidarity to the Igwe-elect.

He said that more than five people petitioned the governor, Charles Soludo against him, and even protest the earlier election that was hitch free, fair and credible.

The igwe-elect maintained that with the second victory, it is an indication that he (Igwe-elect) is the man of the people who God has brought out to develop the community.
