Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Adeyemi Adeoye has rewarded two security guards who nabbed a suspected vandal at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) office, Awka on Sunday.
Adeoye gave a cash reward of N50,000 each to the guards: Mr Emeka Ani from Ebonyi state and Mr Matthias Ikyurior from Benue state, for their courage and gallantry.
Recall that one Chukwuebuka Ike, 35, was caught inside the premises of the agency on Sunday by the security guards when he was pulling out the aluminum windows and shattering the glasses to steal the profiles.
The suspect was later handed over to the police and charged to court.
Speaking his office at the Command Headquarters, Awka, the CP said the heroic act of the security guards would forestall future burglary attack on the agencyโs property and its environs.
โI commend your courage. What you did to nab the suspect who broke into the premises of the News Agency of Nigeria was brave, heroic and gallantry.
โI am very proud of you and Iโm sure that your action will put a stop to the incessant vandalism and criminality going on in that premises.
โIโm giving you N50,000 each as reward for courage. We are partners in the fight against crime in the society and I urge you to be dedicated to law and order,โ he said.
Adeoye urged NAN reporters to continue to be the watchdog of the society and support the police force to secure the state.
Also speaking, Mrs Joy Mbachi, State Correspondent, NAN, Awka, appreciated the CP for recognising the efforts of the security guards and ensuring the suspect was prosecuted.
