3 Feared Dead as Popular Awka-Based Digital Town Crier, Aiza Suffers Another Auto Crash

Three persons were feared dead in an accident involving popular Awka-based comic and digital Town crier, Mr. Aiza Nwosu.

The auto crash took place Friday morning at Aroma junction, Awka, Anambra State.

Aiza is renowned around the Anambra capital city and beyond for his comic ways of making public announcements while driving around with his trademark vehicle ladden with speakers and blaring music.

An eye witness who identified himself as Uzodinma said Aiza’s vehicle crashed into some pedestrians, including a tricycle rider at Arroma.

According to him, the comic town crier, and about three persons involved in the crash were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Another witness said the casualties were taken to the hospital by tricycle operators, adding that one of the victims, a woman had been confirmed dead.

“The incident happened minutes ago at Aroma. The popular Aiza who is unconscious, crushed 3 people with his vehicle.

“Keke men took them to the hospital. One of the victims (female) confirmed dead in Amaku now.

“I can’t tell as I arrived the scene minutes later but an eyewitness confirmed he wasn’t on speed. She said the accident happened mysteriously,” she said.

When our reporter arrived the scene of the crash, officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) were seen dismantling some of the music equipment attached to the vehicle, to avoid being vandalized.

An ACTDA official who spoke to newsmen said he could not explain how the accident happened as he was not around when the crash occurred

“We just got here. We were in the office when we were called to move fast about this emergency. I cannot explain how it happened.

“We know that Aiza is alive and has been moved to hospital for treatment.”

ACTDA officials were making arrangements to tow the crashed vehicle to their office as at time of filing the report.
