The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives have destroyed four clandestine laboratories that produce Methamphetamine drugs in Anambra State.
Public Relations Officer of the agency Mr Christopher Adebo made the disclosure at the Anti Drug Abuse campaign rally at Oyi Local Government Headquarters, Nteje, themed: “Soldering the Solution Agenda” organized by the Anambra North Senatorial District chapter of Soludo Ambassadors.
He noted that the agency has a 5-year work on plan prevention program to stop use and supply of drugs in the state, just as he called on Town Union leaders and Traditional Rulers to be part of the fight against drug abuse.
He said, “Since inception we have so far identified and destroyed four clandestine laboratories that produce methamphetamine in the state.
“This has become necessary because of the United Nations report on drug and crime in 2018 which stated that 14.4% of Nigerians are involved in drugs abuse and in the Southeast Anambra ranks highest in the list of states that are deeply involved in drug abuse “
Earlier, Convener of Soludo Ambassadors and Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA), Chief Ossy Onuko said the group had resolved to spread the massage of Governor Soludo’s two-years achievements and need for his reelection.
“With the quantum of developmental strides already achieved by the governor, I don’t think any sensible person will come out to challenge him” he said.
Onuko outlined Soludo’s numerous accomplishments in the state to include transformation of Okpoko into a community, beautification of Awka with recreational centers, employment of over 5,000 teachers to address the issue of schools without teachers, revitalization of the healthcare system and completion of 247 kilometers of roads out of 470 kilometers of roads awarded.
On his part, Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze described Soludo as a seasoned administrator based on the ongoing projects across 30 constituencies of the State.
He said completion and commissioning of over 100 roads across the state was clear demonstration that Soludo’s administration was focused and ready to provide more infrastructural development during his second tenure.
Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Political Matters, Mr. Alex Obiogbolu described Soludo Ambassadors as most active support group in the state, having held rallies in all three senatorial zones.
He accentuated Soludo’s achievements in various sectors, including road construction, technological advancements and free healthcare services.
He urged Anambra electorates not to loose sleep over the machinations of the opposition describing them as industrial noise of detractors that cannot affect the ambition of the governor.
Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike and her Petroleum and Mineral Resources counterpart, Mr. Anthony Ifeanya while felicitating with the group, praised Soludo’s efforts in road construction, technology and provision of free healthcare for women.
They affirmed Anambra North’s unwavering support for Soludo’s second term.
The rally which attracted mammoth crowd from seven Local Government Areas of Ogbaru, Anambra West, Anambra East, Onisha North, Onitsha South, Ayamelum, was graced by National Coordinator of Soludo Ambassadors Chief Kenneth Nwachukwu and Cordinator Anambra North Soludo Ambassadors, Sir Ejiofor Egwuatu.
Others were representatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Igwe Prof. Charles Anikweze of Awkuzu, All Progressives Grand Alliance Vice Chairman, Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Local Government Area Mr. Emma Nweke, Women groups, student community among others.
Highpoint of the event was the awarding of certificates to Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony Nwabunwanne, and the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka as patrons in recognition of their support to the group.
Also cultural display by various groups to spiced the event.
