Anambra Deputy Speaker Denies Allowing Soludo Access to Assembly’s Approved N100bn

Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Chukwuma Okoye has said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is yet to access N100billion already approved for infrastructural development of the state.

Recall that the Governor reportedly approached the State Assembly seeking its consent to access the stipulated amount from the state coffers last year.

Okoye, representing Awka South 2 in the Assembly told newsmen that contrary to speculations, the fund had not been accessed by the Governor months after its approval.

“We passed a loan of N100billion for him to access. But uptil now, the Governor has not accessed a dime.That will show you that the man is working with little resources. He has not borrowed any money from any bank or donor agency,” he said.

The Legislator who was speaking shortly after 2024 Awka Diocesan Laity Week flag off at St Matthew’s Catholic church, Amawbia, noted that Governor Soludo is judiciously utilizing all funds accrued to the state and allocating scarce resources to priority areas.

Commenting on the Governor’s two years in office, Okoye said the Governor has demonstrated unequal commitment to moving the state forward, pointing out that his innovations in governance had brought quality service delivery in virtually all sectors of the economy.

He enumerated some aspects of Soludo’s achievements to include over 400 km road infrastructure ongoing across the state, youth empowerment, creation of over 9,000 job opportunities as well as face lift of Awka Capital Territory.

While soliciting for public support to enable him do more for the state, the lawmaker prayed for God to grant him long life and strength to fulfill his desire to achieve a livable and prosperous state.
