A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Val Ozigbo has commended the sacrificial spirit of the Anambra State House of Assembly members of his party of donating their six months salary to assuage current economic hardship of their constituents.
He said the gesture deserved emulation by other lawmakers, just he enjoined them to continue to uphold manifestoes of their leader, Mr Peter Obi and party tenets.
The eight lawmakers, under auspices of Labour party (LP) inner caucus had on Thursday called for shelving of bogus government policies at all levels and to concentrate on proactive measures to address hunger and insecurity at least for six months.
Ozigbo, past Anambra Gubernatorial Candidate, expressed full support for the lawmakers’ call for proactive measures to alleviate hunger across the country, which he regretted had been compounded by insecurity which he said had nose dived abysmally.
He said, “I lend my voice to that of LP inner caucus Anambra State of Assembly to call on governments on all tiers to be responsive to the immediate plight of the people which is hunger and insecurity.
“What the people are experiencing at the moment has moved from poverty to chronic hunger and to compound issues, insecurity has nose dived abysmally.
“I think the call is timely because our people are going through excruciating pains as a result of policies that are not of immediate expedience. I hereby fully endorse the communique.
“I’m satisfied with the sacrificial spirit of the caucus which deserves emulation by other lawmakers and enjoin them to continue to uphold the manifestoes of our dynamic leader His Excellency Mr Peter Obi and the tenets of our great party.”
