The commissioner of police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has decorated ten newly promoted officers of the command urging them to be more professional in their conduct.
In his address, the CP reiterated that police profession is a national call to duty saying that promotion comes with higher responsibilities, even as new posting comes with new tasks and new test of competence.
He congratulated the 10 newly promoted officers tasking them to justify the approval of their promotion by the IGP Kayode Egbetokun by being dedicated in their sacrificial service to the nation and humanity.
CP Adeoye who narrated his exploits against insurgents advised officers against lobbying for posting claiming that he never lobbied for any of his posting but rather accepted it in good faith and saw it as opportunity to prove his competence.
According to CP Adeoye, I have served in different parts of the country including JTF at Maiduguri. I was posted from the National Headquarters Abuja down to the Southeast to Coordinate the Police Mobile Force in the five south-eastern states; from where I was later posted down to Anambra state as a Deputy Commissioner of Police to help sanitize the state of insecurity then, shortly after the assassination of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of late former NAFDAC DG, Professor Dora Akunyili.
“Upon my posting,I worked tirelessly with other officers under my control to see that the security narrative in the state changed for good.
“During the 2021 gubernatorial election, unknown gunmen vowed that election would not hold in Ihiala Local Government Area where they had their headquarters during the time they were heavily territorizing the state and even designated some places as no-go areas in the state then.
“This command fought tooth and nail against the unknown gunmen to ensure that election was held in Ihiala Local Government Area of the State during the 2021 gubernatorial election.
I was here for one year, and God helped us, the election everybody thought would not hold eventually held. That was the election that produced the current Governor, Professor Charles Soludo.
โAt first, there was an election in all parts of Anambra State, but no election in Ihiala Local Government Area, because the Unknown Gunmen had their headquarters there.
โAnd immediately we finished election in other parts of the State, we mobilized the whole force to Ihiala and we engaged them in a shootout in a bush from morning till night, so that they would not go to the Ihiala town to disrupt the election. I was in the helicopter, coordinating the operation and God helped us to succeed.
”The election everybody thought would not hold eventually held.I was reposted to Anambra last year as commissioner of police and I thank God and also appreciate my gallant men.
โ Today Anambra is safe and peaceful because some police officers have worked hard for it. And I stand here to declare and assure that never again will the people of Anambra State be subjected to that kind of mindless bloodletting by miscreants. If they raise their heads to do it gain we will take the battle to them,โ Adeoye said.
In a vote of thanks, ACP Collins Eruogu on behalf of the newly decorated officers appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission, and CP Adeoye, for the promotion, adding that the promotion will motivate them to continue being outstanding and professional in the discharge of their duties.
Moreso, another officer promoted from the rank of SP to CSP dedicated his promotion to God Almighty thanking the IGP, Chairman Police Service Commission, NPF for the new promotion pledging that they will continue to serve their country with more dedication.
The decorated officers included David Iloyanomon, former DCP Administration, who was promoted and now posted to Taraba State as Police Commissioner; four officers promoted from Chief Superintendent of Police to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police, four officers promoted from Supritendent of Police to Chief Superintendent of Police; as well as one officer promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Police to Deputy Superintendent of Police.
