An 11-year old girl allegedly brutalized by her madam in Onitsha, Anambra State has been rescued and undergoing treatment.
The victim, Happiness Nwafor who was rescued by Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo said she was beaten by her madam, one Adachukwu Okafor for touching her daughter’s body.
She said the suspect, a lawyer from Nkpor but resident at Igwilo street Akapka, off Isieke by Actus Dei Schools Akapka Onitsha, allegedly used broken bottle, iron, knife and pistol on her within two weeks of her stay with her.
“The woman burnt the little girl’s clothes and dropped her off stark naked with her relative Ifeoma Muoghalu,” she said.
Speaking at the hospital where the victim was first rushed to in Ogidi, Muoghalu explained that the suspect boasted that nothing would happen as she was lawyer who knew how to work her way out.
“We handed over Happiness to her on January 5, 2024 only to be disfigured within the short period of her stay.
“Since the incident, she has not been taking my calls,” she said.
The Commissioner who was notified of the incident earlier today by Defend Your Rights Foundation quickly swung into action by dispatching her team to the scene.
She lamented over the incident, vowing to do everything in her power to apprehend the suspect.
She encouraged the victim, assuring that the present Soludo-led administration would not rest until justice was served.
The victim, who is visibly in pain has been admitted to an undisclosed hospital in Awka where she’s receiving treatment.
