Jubilation as Senator Nwoye Empowers 14,000 Constituents, Launches Community Road Project

Member representing Anambra North District at the National Assembly, Senator Tony Nwoye has distributed empowerment materials worth millions of naira to over 14,000 members of his constituency.
The beneficiaries, drawn from different parts of the senatorial zone and across the state were empowered with different items including sewing machines, grinding machines, generating sets, engine boats, engineering kits, bags of rice and fertilizers as well as cash sums.
Speaking during the empowerment gathering preceded by Thanksgiving Church Services at All Saints and Holy Trinity Cathedral, Onisha, the Labour Party (LP) lawmaker said he was motivated to give back to the society.
He said the gesture was in fulfilment of his campaign promises aimed at improving standard of living of his constituents, while giving glory to God for his manifold blessings on him.
He disclosed that the beneficiaries, mostly youths and farmers cut across political parties in all seven local government areas of Ayamelum, Anambra East & West, Oyi, Ogbaru, Onitsha North & South that constitute Anambra North Senatorial District.
Nwonye also promised to construct one road for each community in his constituency under the ‘Operation One Road for Every Community’, a feat he said he has achieved in some communities even while not in power.
He said, “This empowerment is part of my resolve to empower my people to reduce crime and unemployment in the Senatorial District and beyond.
“I’m particularly disturbed each time I see people, especially youths, roam the streets because they have no jobs.
“I’m not her for political campaign but to thank God for seeing me through the February 28th, 2023 general election and for making me who I am at the moment.”
While clarifying that the event has no political coloration, Nwoye praised LP Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and Prince Arthur Eze for their impactful contributions to his political career.
He advised the beneficiaries to put the tools to maximum use for a better society, pledged continued empowerment of his constituents.
The lawmaker further revealed he had attracted N34 billion federal government intervention funding for Otucha–Nzam–Ida–Abuja road project.
“The Onitsha-Otuocha-Aguleri-Omor-Adani road to stop at Enugu has been included in the 2024 budget, while Aguleri-Otuocha-Nzam-Ihiaka-Abaji-Abuja road has been reawarded and contractors will move to site this month,” he hinted.
Earlier, State Chairman of LP, Ugochukwu Emeh observed that the legislator had achieved a lot within six months of representation meeting the needs of his constituents.
He noted that politicians elected under the platform of the party had continued to perform well across the nation, calling on the electorate to work for the success of the party in the battle to occupy the State’s Government House.
In their various contributions, Chairman, LP Caucus, House of Representatives, Hon Afam Ogene, Hon Pat Okafor, State House of Assembly, testified that the Lawmaker has shown the way for others to follow and urged him not to relent.
While commending him for the empowerment initiative,Hon Ogene, attributed his political success story to hand of God.
The event attracted dignitaries including Mr. Peter Obi, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Afred Achebe, Traditional rulers from Anambra North, Bishop Valerian Okeke, Bishop Owen Nwokolo and Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor.
Others were Senator representing Enugu East, Kevin Chukwu, Sen. Victor Umeh, lawmaker representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon Afam Ogene, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, Labour Party supporters, among others.
