Anambra community Celebrate Philanthropist for Sponsoring Road Project at Enugu Ukwu

People of Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have praised one of their kinsmen, Chief Thomas Okonkwo for his benevolence, particularly in sponsoring the Ire-Urualor Enugwu Ukwu Internal Road project.
They hailed Chief Okonkwo for his intervention to enable them enjoy easy access to their homes and farm lands.
Chairman, Home Branch, Urualor Village, Enugwu Ukwu, Rev Okolo Emmanuel hailed Chief Okonkwo for coming to the rescue of the village and thanked God for using him as a source of blessing to the community and humanity.
Other residents of the area including Chief Ikechukwu Ezeisi and Afam Okoloekwe, recalled how the sponsor’s grand father discovered the narrow road, describing the economic importance of the road which links the community to Nawfia, a neighboring community as enormous.
Flagging off the project, Transition Committee Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon Clems Aguiyi, described the One Kilometre Ire—Urualor, Village, Enugwu Ukwu access road from old Enugu–Onitsha road set to be completed in no distant time as very critical in the quest to make the area prosperous.
He noted that wealthy individuals from the community have been partnering government in constructing internal roads, adding that no fewer than 6 Kilometres of roads had so far been constructed in the community under the arrangement.
He appreciated the sponsor for considering it worthy to undertake the project, assuring that the project under the supervision of the local government would stand the test of time.
Also speaking, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo, Chinedu Nwoye reiterated government’s unwavering commitment to partner private sector to foster development of the state.
The Member representing Njikoka 1 State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Chidi Ibemeka lauded the sponsor’s effort in touching lives and assured of government support services in constructing more internal roads in the area.
On his part, the benefactor, Chief Thomas Okonkwo described as divinely motivated his decision to expand and complete the road.
He said he was prompted by God after being told about the history of the road, to mobilize resources to ensure its expansion and completion.
Okonkwo,a native of Urualor Village, Enugwu Ukwu, noted that the concept was initiated in the olden days by his grand father who worked at Public Works Department (PWD).
“I was prompted by God after I was told about the history of the road, to mobilize resources to ensure its expansion and completion,” he said.
