An inspirational educating book for youths, ‘Rhythms of Agony’ have been lunched in Awka, Anambra State capital.
The author, Chukwunonso Jaspa Nwankwo, during the book lunch, said he was inspired to write the book following increasing moral decadence in society.
He said, “One of the reason that gave birth to this book is that I found myself in a society that is morally decaying and not structured.
“There is nothing I can do to help the situation but to contribute my quota through writing.
“Like the popular writer Achebe said, “writing does not only depend on scribbling on text but on a workable solution to some challenges in the society.
“The book “Rhythms of Agony” is centred on an average Nigerian graduate in the society today with no job and who is faced with different options to delve into the wrong part and that alone shattered his dreams.
“John after graduating from one of the Nigerian universities and having struggled to make ends meet went into the wrong part and that onerous decision landed him into incurable madness which means that the end of any negative part is destruction.
“The books also set to redirect and correct the youths from delving into the wrong part or getting ‘rich quick syndrome’. So you have to calm down as a youth and plan your life in a way that will be beneficial to yourself and the society in general.”
Also speaking, a veteran journalist, Alfred Ajayi described the book as well written piece intended to convey serious message from the author to the society especially the youths.
He commend the author for his commitment in penning down his thoughts on paper, wishing him greater heights.
“The book presents the Agony of an average Nigerian who despite going through the thick and thin of education at the higher learning still comes out and have the ambitions and hope of doing something meaningfully.
“So I think the author succeeded in grilling those realities of our today in Nigeria, together in a very good written way.
“Already he has written three books, it’s not easy, some of us have tried to write one but couldn’t finish it. So I really commend him and wish him well,” he said.
One of the guests, Madu Gloria, while praising the author, said she felt excited and honoured to be present at the book lunch, expressing optimism that the book would help encourage youths in their various life”s endeavours.
She however, called on youths to look out for their destinies, avoid peer group pressure and seek God’s face for direction of purpose in everything they do.
