Abu Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has perfected their bail conditions of five inmates of Amawbia Correctional Service Center in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Founder of ABU Foundation, Chief Mmaduaburochukwu Attah, a real estate mogul and transporter, said the gesture was part of the organisation’s goal to ameliorate the suffering of the poor and downtrodden in society.

He said lifting people from poverty was not government’s responsibility alone, stressing that it should be the duty of well-to-do individuals to always tassist the less privileged around them.

“What you have seen here are things we have been doing for six years since we incorporated this foundation, and I will continue doing it as God blesses me,” he said.

Earlier, Deputy Controller of Corrections in the facility, Rev Solomon Uba appreciated the NGO’s founder, Mmaduaburochukwu Attah for his commitment towards giving the inmates a sense of belonging.

Rev. Uba, represented by one of the officers in the Correctional Centre charged the inmates to shun cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices after they were reintegrated into the society.

On her part, Zone 13 PPRO, SP Josephine, urged the freed inmates to be good ambassadors to their families, communities, their states of origin, and the country at large.

She also advised them always to do the right thing at the right time.

Speaking seperately to newsmen, the inmates, Chidozie Ikile, Chikwube Obiagu, Ebuka Afoba, Izuchukwu Nwosu, and Ozodo Uchechukwu, pledged not to be involved in activities that would return them to the prison custody which they described as hellfire.

They prayed to God to continue to bless the benefactor for coming to their freedom.

The foundation distributed packs of toilet papers, cartons of Baby & Me bathing soap, and cartons of Gala to the correctional facility.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) officers, Nigeria Police delegates from Zone 13 Ukpo, led by its Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ihunwo Josephine, members of the press, and the management team of the Foundation at the NCS facility in Amawbia on Thursday.
