NYSC boss urges corps members to be equiped for mentorship

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has challenged corps members to equip themselves with necessary leadership skills in order to be good mentors.
Anambra State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma stated this at the 2023 Batch C stream 1 edition of the Mind the gap Nigeria.
She argued that corps members who would be going to the communities to mentor school leavers must have digital skills and should equally possess qualities of patience, empathy, courage, motivation and builder of the confidence of the mentee.
Contributing to the topic; Mentoring Secondary School Leavers (NEET) in Your Community: a Call to Leadership.” The debaters opined that before effective mentorship is achieved, mentors should find the needs of the society and the school leavers, collaborate with stakeholders and ultilize digital skills to address the needs of those being mentored.
They agreed that if school leavers are properly mentored, they would not only rediscover and take control of themselves but also set meaningful goals and take action.
They believed that the school leavers can realize their dreams by going digital, being innovative and being adaptable to situations.
In his remarks, Terdoo Nelson Nondo, the team lead of Mind The Gap Nigeria, said that school leavers should be mentored into picking the contemporary market demand digital skills like digital, technical and communication skills.
Platoon 5 emerged first, platoon 9 second, while platoon 8 took third position at the end of the debate.
