Ebonyi Government Partners Foreign Group on Improved Healthcare Services

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, has promised collaboration with the Jhpiego programme to implement and enhance healthcare delivery system in the state.

Nwifuru made the remarks on Tuesday in Abakaliki during an official working visit to Nigeria by Dr Leslie Mancuso, President and Chief Executive of Jhpiego.

Jhpiego, an International Organisation, is an affiliate of John Hopkins University in the U.S

The Organisation has been working in 155 countries over 50 years to prevent the needless deaths of women, their families, saving lives, improving health, and transforming futures.

NAN also reports that the organisation is funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

According to the Governor, “Jhpiego commitments to improve the health condition of Ebonyi people through its programme has encouraged me to be fully in support as a government.

Interacting with the state government officials, Mancuso assured that the organisation would continue to work with the government of Ebonyi to deepen the promotion and sustenance of Jhpiego Programmes in the state.

She said Jhpiego had supported the government through several projects such as reproductive health and healthcare delivery in the state.

“We saw first-hand work of our indigenous implementing partners leading as well as project beneficiaries testimonies.

“This gives us confidence and courage to continue to advocate for more funding to continue. We are satisfied with the level of commitments from all,” Mancuso said.

The State Coordinator, World Health Organisation, Dr Vivian Ibeziako, commended all partners in the state for their unwavering commitment, expertise, and resilience in promoting healthcare of the people.

Ibeziako, represented by Simisola Adedeji, Monitoring and Evalution Officer of the organisation, appreciated Jhpeigo for its contribution towards strengthening health systems and women empowerment in the state.

“Our collective dedication to the improvement of public health outcomes is truly inspiring,” Ibeziako said.

Mr Adetiloye Oniyire, Country Director of Jhpiego, said the company had implemented and is currently implementing several successful projects across health and social development needs. (NAN)
