Two Men Detained at Correctional Center over Attempted Murder

A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Friday, ordered the remand of two men: Saminu Rabiu, 28 and Hudu Ali, 45, in a Correctional Center for alleged attempted murder.

The defendants, who live at Chinama Village in Tsanyawa Local Government, Kano, are standing trial on five-count charge for criminal conspiracy, house trespass, possession of dangerous weapons, defamation of character and attempted murder.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr Farouk Ibrahim-Umar, who did not take the plea of the defendant’s, directed the police to send the case diary to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

He adjourned the matter until Nov.16 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Ibrahim Arif-Garba, had told the court that one Yusuf Ayuba and Auwal Yusuf of the same address reported the matter at Tsanyawa Police Division on Sept.2.
He alleged that on the same date at about 1:30 am the defendants conspired and trespassed into Ayuba’s house situated at Chinama Village with Cutlass and knife alleging that he was a wizard.
“In the process, the defendants used the cutlass and stabbed the complainant on his body while he was sleeping.
“As a result, the victim sustained various injuries and was rushed to Tsanyawa General Hospital for treatment”
According to him, the offence contravened the provision of section 97, 343,404 of Kano State Penal Code , 391 and 229 of the Penal Code.(NAN)
