Investing in renewable energy, green technologies critical to infrastructure enhancement – Stakeholders

The 2023 Hybrid International Conference of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka had ended with a resolution of enhancing education, and training programmes in crises response and digital literacy at all level of education.

The conference with the theme, ‘Disruptions and Management Sciences in Africa: Issues and Strategic Choices’ also resolved to address the school curriculum at all levels in line with education/industry 4.0.

It further recommended promotion of innovation hubs to promote the development of technology-driven solutions for disaster management.

The conference, attended by both members of the academia and practitioners in the digital and disruptive sectors among others of the African economy, resolved to invest in renewable energy and green technologies to enhance infrastructure and address environmental renewables.

It further recommended continuous investment in education and skills development as well as promoting innovations and Entrepreneurship.

The Conference had earlier noted the following ten factors:

1)The large-scale disruptions in the businesses, economic, political, technological in Africa and globally

2) The changing consumer preferences occasioned and global economic shifts occasioned by the disruptions;

3) The changing method of education and learning outside the physical environment;

4) Massive job losses due to the technological and other disruptions;

5) The rise in digital assets;

6) Political and security/social disruptions and dislocations;

7) Increasing migrations of labour and other productive resources;

8) Changing family patterns and the rise in youth population with attendant youth unemployment;

9) Increase in the demand for education 4.0, and the need for curriculum review in line with industry 4.0; and

10) The need for training and retraining of manpower and current labour force.
