Over 600 students of Igwebike Grammar School, Awka, Anambra State have been offered scholarships by a Chinese Engineering firm, Mo Zhotian construction company.
Managing Director, Tu Makuan said the scholarship, meant for students from SS1 to SS3 would run for an academic session.
He added that the gesture which is part the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility, was in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s free education policy.
“We’re the company constructing Solution Fun City. Whenever I’m driving to our construction site close to your school, I’m always attracted to your school.

Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh said the philanthropy from the firm was informed by the commitment of both teachers and students of the school.
She thanked the firm for her magnanimity, describing it as worth emulating by other spirited individuals and organisations in the state.
She said, “I have passion for the school because of your dedication to your studies. I’ve seen several students along the road during school hours, but I’ve not seen any of your students. The spirit of academics you exhibit has paid off.
“If you’re good at what you do, whether students or teachers, nature will always reward you. Someone else saw what I saw in you and decided to extend arm of philanthropy to you.”
