Man arraigned for Stealing Block Moulding Equipment , other items

The Police on Tuesday, arraigned a 28-old man, Bayo Abimbola, before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun, over an alleged theft of block moulding equipment and other building materials .

The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is being tried for alleged offences of stealing, unlawful entry and breach of public peace.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Jacob Akintunde, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 15 , at about 5:00 a.m at Oke-Oba area , Osogbo .

Akintunde alleged that the defendant unlawfully broke into a block industry belonging to the complainant, Adeleke Rasaki and stole some block making items .

He told the court that the defendant allegedly stole a block moulder , sumek generator , tray , cutlasses including bulldozer motor parts .

“The defendant also carted away two bags of Dangote cements and other items belonging to one Akinwumi Akinpelu before he was arrested and brought to court,” he told the court.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 81 , 249 (d) , 390 (9) , 383 (1) , and 430 (1) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 , laws of Osun , 2002 .

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges..

The defence counsel, Mr Babatunde Akinwumi , prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms .

The Magistrate, Mr A. Ajala , granted the defendant bail in the sum of N 1 million and one surety in the likesum .

Ajala said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should show evidence of tax payment to the court’s registrar.

He adjourned the case to Dec. 7 for hearing . (NAN)
