Paul university Awka Anambra state has held it’s 4th convocation ceremony at the university premise. The former Anambra state Governorship aspirant in 2021 and special assistance to the presidential candidate of Labour Party Mr Peter Obi, Hon. Val Ozoigbo delivered the Convocation lecture. He harped on the potentials of the university and made plausible suggestions on the funding of the citadel of learning which is facing financial challenges.
Four prominent personages were conferred with honorary doctorate degree namely:
Nollywood movies actor, Rollas Emeka Ejezie, HRH, Igwe Beneth Emeka, Oke-Ebo of Umueri, Barrister Mike Epelle, Amaopusenibo, and Cyril Christopher Okechukwu.
In his brief remarks, the former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi and the presidential candidate of Labour Party, threw his weight on the plan of the Paul university to establish a branch at Oji River saying that there is vast expanse of land which will enable the university to venture into massive agriculture which remains the hope of the country in terms of foreign exchange earnings and massive employment potentials. He pledged to support the university in the establishment of necessary facilities in the new campus.
In his remarks, HRH, Igwe Dr. Beneth Emeka, Oke-Ebo of Umueri commended the vice chancellor of the university, Prof Obiora Nwosu and the management of the citadel of learning for finding him worthy of honorary doctorate degree and promised to contribute meaningfully to the facilities for learning in the university.
Prominent personages that graced the memorable occasion were the Host, His Grace, The Most Rev Alexander Ibezim, PhD, Archbishop of Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Primate of All Nigeria, Archbishop Metropolitan, Church of Nigeria Anglican communion, His Grace, Most Rev Henry Ndukuba who was installed as the new Chancellor of Paul university, Archbishop Enugu Diocese, Emmanuel Chukwuma, Prof. Chinyere Okunna, the first female Professor of Mass communication in Nigeria, the Provost of Post graduate school and the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof Godwin Onu, the Anglican Reverends, traditional rulers and personages who accompanied Barrister Mike Epelle from Rivers State.
