Ayamelum Lawmaker Offers Varsity Scholarship to 5 Indigent StudentsBy Christopher Okafor

The lawmaker representing the Ayamelum State Constituency at the Anambra state House of Assembly, Hon. Benard Udemezue has pledged to do his best to promote quality education and agriculture in the constituency.

Udemezue made the pledge after offering scholarships to five students that scored highest marks in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ayamelum. The lawmaker who described education as key to unlocking the future, also announced that the number of beneficiaries in the N200,000 Scholarship Scheme will be increased to ten as from 2024.
He charged the beneficiaries of this year’s award to make good use of the facility in their academic pursuit.

The lawmaker adds that his education empowerment was in line with his vision for turning the area into agriculture hub and food basket of the nation.

“Agriculture is a thing of great interest in Ayamelum. It is our hobby and the jawbone with which Ayamelum indegenes can achieve their plans, in terms of training their children in the school, sending them abroad, building houses etc. In fact, if we fail to empower our people for Improved agriculture, we are not doing Ayamelum people any good. “Therefore, I am calling on Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration to help Ayamelum people by making available good road network, electricity and other social amenities in the area.

Udemezue also harped on the need to restore peace in Ayamelum.

“Peace brings about progress. Sustainable peace is also our prayer in the constituency. I must align myself with the Soludo administration’s efforts to promote peace and security in Anambra State. We need them mostly in this constituency so that our people can go about their normal business and social life without fear.

“We have already called Omor and Anaku for a peace talk as a clan. We all know that Ayamelum communities do share single motherhood. We are one inseparable entity. And God will help and answer our prayers for sustainable peace.

has reaffirmed the victory of Hon. Udemezue Abuchi Bernard of The People’s Democratic party(PDP) over the former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor, of The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). Agricultural sector sees more light, as Peace comes to stay, and Education receives robust attention in Ayamelum.
Hon. Udemezue Abuchi Bernard of The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has reclaimed his victory as a member representing Ayamelum people in the 8th State Assembly, been challenged in The Tribunal Court, Awka, by The Former Speaker of the 7th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA).

Hon. Udemezue, made this known to The ANAMBRADAILY Communications in an exclusive interview held in his office at the State Legislative Complex, Awka. He narrated how that The Tribunal Court of Anambra State Judicial Arm of the Government had authenticated his victory as the president house member representing Ayamelum Constituency in The Anambra State 8th Assembly Awka. Hon. Udemezue expressed joy that after The Tribunal had finished dealing with the substance of the matter, he was declared the winner as the properly elected candidate, stating that at the first instance, he felt both elected and threatened because some people would say, ‘you are dealing with a person of incumbent power, the Speaker of the house, you are going to lose the case. To that effect, I was like giving up. But to some extent, I counted on the sayings of some noble hearted number of people who did encouraged me. And I came to realize that upon the heavyweight of my opponent political might, many people were still supporting me.
Today, I am happy because after all said and done, what INEC saw in the past State Assembly Election in Ayamelum was authenticated in the Tribunal Court of Awka.

Hon. Udemezue thanked His Excellency, Prof. Charlese Chukwuma Soludo, The Governor of Anambra State for being a father and good administrator in discharge of his official duties. He also appreciatedThe Tribunal Court of the Judiciary Arm the State Government for the justice given to him.

The entire people of Ayamelum were apprehended for the total support given to him during the election.
